working dog

today was Wally's first time on public transit. we got on the streetcar, subway and the bus, and no temper tantrums to speak of. we went to check out how the new shadowboxes are coming along at Day and Night Woodworking on Dupont. i'm  overhauling the way i've been framing my work to streamline the process, as the framing seems to be taking almost as long as the making of the actual artwork (and is a real pain in the ass). the new boxes are looking great and the really good  thing is that i will be able to eliminate the mat-board part of the process, as the boxes will be all wood and painted inside (in place of the paper box). this will also allow me to do more stuff with the background, like adding images, drawing, etc. something i've been thinking about for a while.

jennybird alcantara

during this brief visit to Petaluma, i had the pleasure of meeting a fabulous San Francisco artist, Jennybird Alcantarai stumbled upon her work about a year ago while doing an online search on the  LA art scene. i love her imagery, use of colour and attention to detail. see great images from her 2006 exhibition "Flies in Buttermilk" at Anno Domini here.

Mark B. Ledenbach's table. i bought his new halloween collectibles guide.
found these great books at the Petaluma Antique Faire on Sunday.
to close off the trip we hit Daiso (THE Japanese dollar store) to fill up on mostly useless stuff.
for whatever reason most of my pics are blurry, so check out the Earth Angels Toys blogand Jen's entry about the trip.
